History of the Heritage Banking Group

The more things change, the more they stay the same.

Why do we call ourselves "Heritage"? To answer that question, we have to look to our history. And while the name "Heritage Banking Group" was created in 2004, our roots go much farther back, and are inseparable from the community that inspired us. July of 1920 saw the birth of an idea; a bank conceived solely to address the needs of a tight-knit yet growing community. With $50,000 capital and surplus, The Carthage Bank first opened its doors. Our growth outside of our native community of Carthage is the motivation behind the change of our name to The Heritage Banking Group. But while our name has changed, our principles remain the same: Customer Loyalty and Dedication. We take pride in our joint history, and hope that we can offer the same dependability and security to our neighbors, and begin building a new history.

Today, the Heritage Banking Group operates out of the following offices:

    • The Main Office at 114 South Pearl Street
    • The Highway 16 Branch
    • The Marketplace Branch
    • The Operations Center Branch
    • The Bank of Edinburg
    • Rankin County Office
    • Madison County Office
    • Hattiesburg Office
    • Brandon Office

We have seen many changes throughout our history, and have embraced these changes as a reflection of our own growth and progress. We welcome you, not only to our online location, but also to any of our physical locations to allow us to introduce ourselves and shake your hand in person. Whether you're a long-standing customer or a new face, the fact remains that This Is Your Bank.
